    • SYNOPSIS “We live with a foot in each world,” says Fátima Santaló, one of four radical leftist Catholic nuns living together in El Ejido, a conservative farming town, buried in a sea of plastic greenhouses. Nearly 100,000 migrants, mostly Muslim and entirely undocumented, work the crops in blazing heat, producing 60% of Europe’s vegetables. At the school the nuns founded, fishermen rehearse plays, mothers learn to roll their r’s, and college graduates turned farmhands sit beside tailors who crossed the sea without knowing how to swim. The nuns attend mass with the very bosses who exploit these same workers - then they drink spritzers, watch Richard Gere romcoms, or run condoms to brothels. Outside, the Far Right rises again. “You can feel how charged it is,” Fátima says. “All it takes is a spark.”
