Los Mencos Palace

An aristocratic palace dating from the late 16th century, located in Tafalla, a municipality in the Autonomous Community of Navarre. It adjoins the Recoletas Convent, to which it is connected by an arch. It consists of a large cubic block of ashlar masonry with two stories plus an attic. It is punctuated by rectangular windows, with the exception of the main entrance, which features a semicircular arch; above it, at the very top of the building, is a coat of arms bearing the Mencos family crest. Attached at a right angle to the building is a prismatic stone tower, the lower part of which incorporates structures from an ancient medieval tower, possibly a remnant of Tafalla’s old city wall. The upper section, designed as a viewing gallery, is characterized by semicircular arches resting on pillars. Furnished and decorated in period style, it features beautiful reception rooms, an imperial staircase, a large dining room, and a historic wine cellar. http://www.palaciodelosmencos.es
