Elizondo

Elizondo is the capital of the Baztan Valley and one of the most important towns in the area. The town lies on the banks of the Bidasoa River, which runs through the center and creates small waterfalls. Elizondo is known for its manor houses and small palaces, reflecting the historical prosperity of the valley. One of the most notable buildings is the Arizkunenea Palace, now used as a cultural center. The town preserves the traditional architecture of the Baztan area, with large stone houses, wooden balconies and sloped roofs.
