In the middle of a witch hunt, Kattalin runs away from her husband, leaving the farmhouse in the middle of the night. Lost in the blackness of the forest, she feels a presence that pursues her. On her way, she encounters three women who, while washing clothes by the river, share tales of fear and village gossip. To her astonishment, Kattalin will end up becoming part of those same stories.
